I don't usually blog about movies I've seen but
this exceptional film was so intelligent and moving that I thought I'd mention it. It combines the poetic and the horrific; the ultimate story of the end of innocence, the end of childhood...themes that interest me. Understated, odd moments of dark humour, a different take on the usual Holocaust theme. I was mesmerised. A few images will stay with me forever, particularly Gyorgy's farewell to his father and rows of prisoners swaying and lurching with fatigue like a sort of hellish ballet when ordered to stand for 24 hours. See this movie.
