The Literate Lens

"... the notebooks of Robin Cracknell and Saul Leiter are delicate and lovely, works of art in their own right. Cracknell’s images of his son, combined with diagrams and words, reveal a father’s struggle to navigate a difficult divorce."

Very flattered to be mentioned in this generous review of 'Photographers' Sketchbooks'. Thank you for these kind words.

Dor

Dor, in Romanian, is the feeling of longing or craving someone or some place in one's memory or an entire metamorphosis of body and soul for the one experiencing it. I've also heard that dor, in Hindi, means string, yarn or thread which neatly fits the idea of being pulled, bound, captured by this same feeling, the tug of love and memory, those connecting ties that bind.

"Very-low-mass single stars should inflict an intricate light-show performed by the large population of previously inconspicuous dim stars. Unfortunately, this natural spectacle will discharge too late for mankind to indulge in. "   Gautschy, Alfred. 28.03.2013  The Thermal Pulses of Very-Low-Mass Stars

The Boxer

My friend and frequent collaborateur, Timothy Shepard, produces distinctive pieces of music from randomly found fragments of vinyl and old 78's. This piece, 'The Boxer', inspired me to produce a 'narrative' of photographs about wounds, faith, self-loathing, love, fear ... It's only 2 minutes long, do listen if you can.
