art + healing

however we define ourselves or the pictures we produce, all 'mark-making' seems like a voyage somewhere, into something previously unknowable. this show is about that.

ellis, three

ellis, three  12 x 16 inches. C-type. unique edition 1/1.

cast

cast 12 x 16 inches. edition of one only.
a downside of working as i do (the negatives deteriorate with the chemical processes i use) is that, unless printed quickly and in batches,  i could never guarantee an accurate print run. i am now able to scan the negatives digitally before they deteriorate and produce precise editions but i remain very attached to these early experimental one-offs.

belong

belong  12 x 16 inches. edition of one only. (unusual blue area possibly a result of rust on the negative. strangely, this did not appear when later scanned digitally, only on this single traditional darkroom-produced C-type.)

francis goodman

not many people will know francis goodman but he was a celebrated photographer, a friend and contemporary of francis bacon, lucian freud and cecil beaton amongst many others. he was also a friend of mine when i first moved to london.  i photographed him in his knightsbridge flat shortly before he died.
